The story behind The Second Night is somewhat unique. This is certainly not because, like almost all Penetralia material, it began as an improvisational jam at the outset of an evening of spontaneously generated music. It is unique because what was discovered as the jam came to a close was that the recorder hadn't been started! We had just played a rather amazing piece of spontaneous music and there was absolutely no document of it except in our collective memory! So, moments later, with the essence of that jam still fresh in our minds and its embers still glowing in our hearts, we promptly set about to replay it as best we could - this time AFTER pressing the record button, of course. And since the tune always seemed to evoke the imagery of night, it is aptly titled 'The Second Night'. Will Shanks is on bass, David Roda on drums, and Monsieur Obscure on electric guitar.
